History
The shrine was founded in 860 CE (Jōgan 2) when Ōhirunonookami, the deity of Yakibi Shrine on Oki Island, was invited to the summit of Mount Himine. Two additional deities, Hiya-no-nakae-no-mikoto and Hi-no-Akutsuhiko-no-mikoto, were also enshrined. Due to the inconvenience of visiting the summit, the shrine was reorganized in 1760 CE (Hōreki 10), designating the summit as the Upper Shrine and the current location as the Lower Shrine. The three deities were then transferred to the Lower Shrine.

Blessings
The shrine is revered as a deity of traffic safety, business prosperity, household safety, and life ceremonies (such as Hatsumode, the first shrine visit of the New Year, and Yakuyoke, a ritual to ward off bad luck).
What visitors say
The shrine grounds are well-maintained, and the shrine has a pleasant atmosphere due to its location on a high plateau. The flower hand-washing basin (Hana-te-mizu) is particularly beautiful, with the seasonal flowers being replaced on the 1st and 15th of every month. It is recommended to visit the flower hand-washing basin, located on the right side after descending the stairs, during your visit.
