This shrine enshrines the deities Hotota-no-Mikoto (Emperor Ōjin), Empress Jingū, and Himemitsu-no-Kami. It is a shrine dedicated to the gods of military fortune and victory. Since the time of the Genji clan, it has served as a guardian deity for the warrior class, and it boasts the highest number of affiliated shrines in the country.
