History
Founded in 1878 as a haraibasho (distant worship site) for Sapporo Jinja (Sapporo Shrine). The shrine was destroyed by fire in 1901 but was rebuilt in 1910 using old timber donated from Sapporo Jinja. In 1947, it received a divided spirit (bunrei) from Sapporo Jinja and became a branch shrine of Hokkaido Jingu.
