In 1732 CE (Kyoho 17), the 15th abbot of Nishi Hongan-ji, Juyo, relocated the old halls of Kitayama Betsuin (Kitayama Branch Temple) to establish a new temple named Seisui-zan Buyaku-ji (Seisui-zan Temple of Dance and Music). Subsequently, the current main hall was constructed in 1774 CE (An'ei 3).
