Established in 1833 CE by the 20th head priest of the head temple, Konyo. In 1838 CE, it was built as a branch office of the head temple and was renamed Honganji Shukusho (Honganji Branch Office) in 1868 CE. After collapsing during the 1891 CE Nobi Earthquake, it was rebuilt and renamed Honganji Kasamatsu Betsuin (Honganji Kasamatsu Branch Temple).
