History
Founded in 1587 CE (Tenshō 15) by Gyōsen-in Nichisō as a base for spreading the faith in Owari Province, near Kiyosu Castle. It was relocated to the castle town of Nagoya Castle in 1610 CE (Keichō 15). After being destroyed by fires and the Great Nagoya Air Raid, it was moved to its current location under post-war urban planning.
