During the Enryaku era, Sakanoue no Tamuramaro enshrined and established Hokushin Shrine in Yumoto Village to pray for victory against rebels. After the Meiji Restoration, it was renamed Hoshitsujisha Shrine. The shrine was destroyed by fire during the Bunroku era but was rebuilt in the 4th year of Keian (1651 CE). It was classified as a village shrine in the 45th year of Meiji (1912 CE), and in the 6th year of Taisho (1917 CE), Inari Shrine and Yasaka Shrine were merged into it.
