History
The shrine's origins are said to trace back to Waki Kiyomaro's invitation of the deity from Hachiman Shrine. Later, the shrine buildings were rebuilt by the Kiyoshi clan. Although the shrine was destroyed by fire during the Sengoku period due to the armies of Oda Nobunaga, it was restored in the Edo period by Kiyoshi Kiyoeimon and others. In the Meiji period, it became independent from the Shingon-ji temple, which had been associated with the shrine, following the separation of Shinto and Buddhism.
