History
In 736 CE (Tenpyo 8), the monk Gyoji Bosatsu founded Nagamatsuyama Eida-ji by imperial decree of Emperor Shomu, but it was later destroyed by fire. In the late Kamakura period, the monk Kofuku Kokushi of Tohoku-ji enshrined a stone statue of Bishamonten at the current site, reviving the temple. During the Haibutsu Kishaku (destruction of Buddhism) movement of the Meiji Restoration, the current main image was brought here. In 1958 CE (Sho 33), it was re-established as the Yokkaichi branch temple of Shingisan Asago Magoji-ji.
