During the Sengoku period, it was highly valued as the castle's guardian deity. Despite repeated destruction by war fires and flooding, it was repeatedly rebuilt and repaired by figures such as Kawakubo Nobutoshi. In 1872 CE (Meiji 5), the shrine was restored to its current name.
