Since ancient times, it has been enshrined in a place called Yamao as Iriyoshi Shrine and served as the chief deity of the Iriyoshi estate. Although it was destroyed by fire during the Tenshō era (1573–1592), it was relocated to the Kitano area in the first year of the Bōryaku era (1751 CE) and flourished after the merger of the Hakusan, Hiya, and Suwa shrines.
