History
In the second year of Reiki (714 CE), during the reign of Emperor Genjin, Prince Shatono received an imperial decree to compile the Nihon Shoki. It is said that while crossing the river in Aminokawa, Mino Province, an old man appeared carrying a halberd (miboshi) and guided the prince. The old man identified himself as Ōnagiatsumi-no-Mikoto and then vanished. Consequently, a palace was built at this site to enshrine the Great Deity of the Halberd. In 1952 CE (Shōwa 27), several nearby shrines were merged into this shrine as detached precinct shrines.
