Founded in 1205 CE (Genkyuu 2) by Myouma Koushi Hihyou Ni, who is also said to be the daughter of Taira no Suemori. The temple burned down during the Genkō Rebellion and the Enmyou Rebellion, but was rebuilt between 1711 and 1716 CE (Shōtoku era) by Fumon Hini, who converted the temple from the Tendai sect to the Nichiren sect.
