History
Founded by the great monk Ten'e Rintatsu, the founding patron is believed to be Kira Ujitoshi or his son, Yorihisa. It is said that Kira Ujitoshi returned to Setagaya after entering Edo and lived in retirement at Jisso-in. The temple received a shuinjo (a certificate of land grant) from Tokugawa Iemitsu in 1648, but returned the shuin-chi (land granted by the certificate) in 1868 due to a decrease in the number of registered parishioners.
