Founded by Jodo, a disciple of the third-generation head, Yuukei, of Fukusen-bo in Yoshida Village, Takada District, during the era of the Mori clan. It was formerly known as Joko-bo or Joko-ji. After relocating to Hisuwa in Yoshida Village, it moved to Nakajima Honmachi, and finally to its current location. It was damaged by the atomic bombing in 1945 CE (Shōwa 20) and relocated to its present site in 1951 CE (Shōwa 26).
