The shrine's origins trace back to 1590 CE (Tenshō 18), when a member of the Sekine family, fleeing the fall of Hachimata Castle, settled in the area and enshrined Inari Daimyojin as their guardian deity. In 1907 CE (Meiji 40), the shrine was merged into Chichibu Shrine. However, in 1946 CE (Shōwa 21), the divine spirit was returned, and the shrine was re-established. The shrine buildings were reconstructed in 1957 CE (Shōwa 32).
