Founded in 1600, the shrine originally centered on Yasaka Shrine. In 1909, four Inari Shrines, as well as Suwa Shrine, Kuruma Shrine, Katori Shrine, Hie Shrine, Atago Shrine, and Haguro Shrine, were merged into it. It was formerly one of the village shrines of Kamikawachi Village.
