History
The current shrine grounds are located in the rice paddies to the southwest of Kamiyashita. In ancient times, the shrine stood in a place commonly known as Komiya (Old Palace), and later relocated to a site called Miyajima (Shrine Island). During the floods of the Tedori River in the Genroku era (1688–1704), the shrine buildings were completely washed away and came to rest at Chikubushima Island. According to shrine records, the current location was established when new shrine buildings were constructed at that site.
