History
The founding date is unknown, but a roof beam plaque (munafuda) from 1720 CE (Kyōhō 5) still exists. Until the early modern period, it was known as Hachiman-jinja (Hachiman Shrine). It was renamed Kanda Shrine in the early Meiji era. It was merged into Gōsha Seishin-jinja (Gōsha Seishin Shrine) in 1915 CE (Taishō 4), but separated and restored in 1948 CE (Shōwa 23).
