Related documents were lost in a fire, so the founding date is unknown. However, it is said that in 1566, a retainer of Nishi Yoshihisa fled carrying the guardian deity of his castle and built a small shrine at this location. The oldest existing structure, dated to 1702, was called 'Sanpo Daiarashin'. The topping-out ceremony took place in 1848, and the main hall was completed in 1853. In the early Meiji period, the shrine was renamed Kanzaki Shrine.
