Kariita Shrine

One of the oldest shrines in Hokkaido, founded in the late Heian period. It enshrines the deities Ukehitsukonokami, Ōmononononakata, and Yamato Takeru. The shrine's treasures include a sacred mirror and the battle drum of the Kataura family.
What visitors say
The shrine grounds are well-maintained, creating a serene and dignified atmosphere. A parking lot for 20 cars is available, and the shrine is located along a wide road with light traffic, allowing for a relaxed visit. The administrative office accepts requests for Goshuin (a shrine's calligraphic seal stamp). Notable features include a distinctive hand-washing basin shaped like a boat.
