History
The shrine is said to have been founded during the Kamakura period. During the Edo period, it was granted the rank of First Rank (Sho-ichi-i) by the Diviner and Head of the Bureau of Divination, Uchibe Kanenari. A legend remains that when Minamoto no Yoshitsune traveled to the Oshu region, he was sheltered by Komori Shrine. In gratitude, he dedicated the 'Aoba no Fue' (Blue Leaf Flute), which was once used by Taira no Atsumori, and a copy of the Mahavairocana Sutra (Great Wisdom Perfection Sutra) written by Musashi-bo Benkei.
