Founded in 1901 by the fairy tale author Sumiharu Ogawa. The Kasugayama Shrine Memorial Hall, located adjacent to the shrine grounds, exhibits materials related to Uesugi Kenshin.

What visitors say

This shrine enshrines Uesugi Kenshin. After climbing a steep and long staircase, visitors are rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view of the city of Joetsu. The grounds feature a bronze statue of Kenshin and a tea house that sells souvenirs. Goshuin (shrine seal stamps) and omamori (protective amulets) are provided in a format where they are placed in the offering box for visitors to take home.
