During the Muromachi period, devotion to the enshrined deity, a war god, grew strong, and the main hall was rebuilt under the deep patronage of the Rokkaku clan. Until the Edo period, it was known as Monobe Shrine and other names, but it was renamed Katsube Shrine in the Meiji era.
