Established in 1869, this shrine is characterized by its traditional architecture, historical materials, and views of the Thirty-Six Peaks of the Higashiyama.
What visitors say
Located on Funakoya Hill, this shrine offers the charm of enjoying views of the ancient capital while climbing the stone steps. The grounds are lush with greenery, and from the plaza where the main hall (honden) stands, you can take in a panoramic view of the Thirty-Six Peaks of the Higashiyama, including Mount Hiei and Mount Otomoji. In addition to Goshuin (a shrine's calligraphic seal stamp) and Omikuji (fortune-telling slips), there are displays such as plush toys from the media franchise Touken Ranbu, creating a powerful atmosphere steeped in history.
