In 1649, the Edo shogunate granted it a shuinjō (an official seal document) guaranteeing its temple lands. The temple was destroyed by fire in 1897 (Meiji 30) and rebuilt in 1901 (Meiji 34). The current main hall was constructed in 1954 (Shōwa 29).
