History
The temple was founded by Goei during the Bunroku period (1593โ1596 CE). In 1649 CE (Keian 2), it received a Goshuin (a calligraphic seal stamp) from Tokugawa Iemitsu, and since then, the Goshuin from successive Shoguns have been preserved. The temple burned down in a fire in 1861 CE but was restored to its former scale in 1957 CE.
