It was built in April 1944 (Shōwa 19) within the grounds of the Army Meteorological Department of the Imperial Japanese Army. After the war, it remained due to an oversight during post-war investigations. In September 1948 (Shōwa 23), a relocation ceremony (Kensai) was performed, and the shrine was moved to Takadanobaba Hikawa Shrine. Due to the aging of the shrine buildings, it was rebuilt in 2003 (Heisei 15) to commemorate the 55th anniversary of its relocation.
