History

In 1771, permission was granted to enshrine Konpira Daigongen, and the deity was installed. In 1773, Tenman Tenjin-sama was welcomed from Kanazawa and enshrined in a secondary hall. During the Tenmei era, the shrine buildings were constructed at the current location and the deities were transferred. During the Meiji Restoration, it became Kotohira-Tenman-gu. Around 1961 (Showa 36), Utsuna Shrine was merged into the complex, and in 2007 (Heisei 19), Hiedesha was also merged.
