Kumaburi Shrine (Former Site)
丹波篠山市春日江1174−1
This is the only ancient shrine in Japan with this unique name, enshrining the Great Kami of the Imperial Ancestors as Kumaburi Ooi (the Great Deity of Kumaburi).
History
Recorded in the Engishiki (a 10th-century codex) list of deities, the exact date of its founding is unknown. The main hall (honden) was rebuilt during the Bunkitsu era, and the shrine buildings were renovated during the Kyōhō era and in the first year of the Keiō era (1865 CE). The current shrine buildings were constructed in February 1923 (Taishō 12).
