Emperor Shōmu donated the entire area of Kojima as the domain of the head shrine, and shrine buildings were constructed modeled after those at the head shrine. Although the structures were destroyed by fire during the Ōnin War, they were rebuilt in 1492 CE (Meiō 1) and remained under protection as a specially revered shrine of the Bizen Domain until the Meiji era.
