Revered as a guardian deity by the Niinomiya clan, the shrine received many sacred objects as offerings. Although it experienced repeated decline due to wars and earthquakes, it served as a place of prayer where proxy worship (dai-san) was performed during the era of the Matsudaira clan of Aizu. Today, it is maintained and managed by a preservation society.
