The shrine was founded on November 24, 1954 CE (Shōwa 29), following a divine revelation that the great deity Kutaryu Benzaiten appeared in the dreams of Onishi Seijiro and descended to the Hase area in Kyoto. After the founder's passing, his eldest son, Onishi Masami, became the second-generation leader and completed the construction of the current main hall (honden) in 1993 CE (Heisei 5).
