History
The founding date is unknown, but it is believed to date back to the late medieval period. During the Edo period, it served as the tutelary deity (chinju) of Maeno Village alongside Nishi Kumano Shrine (West Kumano Shrine). It was designated as a village shrine (sonsha) in 1874. In 1943, the Kasuga Shrine, Gassan Shrine, and Haruna Shrine, which were located at Chogakuji Temple, were relocated to the shrine grounds due to land reorganization.
