When the Mori clan relocated their domain to Buzen and Chikuzen provinces in 1600 (Keicho 5), his second son, Gantoku, remained at the site to maintain the lineage. Later, after the Asano clan took control of the region, the mountain name was officially designated as Shoukousan, and the temple name was changed from Mankou-ji to Mankou-ji.
