The eminent monk Gyoki visited this site in 717 CE (Yoro 1) during the Nara period and established the temple by building a Kannon-do (Hall of Kannon). For over a century, locals have gathered at the hall every month to chant Goyoka (devotional poems), continuing to protect and cherish the site.
