In 1900 CE (Meiji 33), local organizers including Tōyama Bōkichi established a small shrine enshrining Amaterasu Ōkami as the village's guardian deity. In 1911 CE (Meiji 44), plans to build a shrine on current public land were finalized, and construction was completed and the deity was enshrined on April 27, 1912 CE (Meiji 45). During the Taishō and Shōwa eras, the shrine buildings and office were renovated several times. The current shrine hall was completed in 1970 CE (Shōwa 45), and the current office was completed in 1980 CE (Shōwa 55).
