The shrine was revived during the Kan'ei era (1624–1644) by Zen master Ryuukei and was designated as a village shrine in 1872 CE (Meiji 5). In 1908 CE (Meiji 41), Tenjin Shrine on Mount Tenjin and Hachiman Shrine in Nishi-Tomita-cho were merged into this shrine.
