In the early modern period, it was collectively referred to as 'Izumo no Ebisu Daikoku' together with Izumo Taisha (Izumo Grand Shrine). It was designated as a Kokhei Chusha (National Shrine of Middle Rank) in 1885 and is currently a Hyakken Jinja (Special Shrine) under the Association of Shinto Shrines.
