Mikazuki Shrine
〒270-0026 千葉県松戸市三ケ月1451
Located in Mikazuki, Matsudo City, this shrine was originally established to guard the demon gate (kimon) of Ogon Castle. The Daishi-do hall within the grounds is designated as the 25th station of the Edogawa 88 Temple Pilgrimage.
History
It is said that the shrine was founded in the early Kamakura period by Chiba Sukeno Yorifusa to protect the demon gate of Ogon Castle, which he constructed. According to tradition, in 1751 CE (Kanen 4), a stone believed to house the divine spirit of the moon was brought back from Mount Haguro in Dewa Province and enshrined here alongside the original kami.
