Sugawara-no-Michizane (Tenjin)
History
The shrine was originally enshrined as a guardian deity within the castle grounds of Mitoya Castle by Suwa Bu Danjo Tamesuke, the former lord of Mitoya Castle. Following the fall of the castle, the deity was moved to the site of the former Tenjin shrine. In August of the second year of the Koka era (1845 CE), the deity was relocated again to the current location, where it has been worshipped with great reverence ever since.
