History
It is said to have been founded in 809 CE (Daido 4) by Kukai (Daihoshi). Located on the mid-slopes of Mount Mitsutaki, it remained largely undamaged during the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945 and served as a temporary first-aid station. The temple grounds feature three waterfalls: Komagataki, Bon-on no Taki, and Yumei no Taki. The water from these falls is used for the offering of water at the Peace Memorial Ceremony.
