History
In 1271 CE (Bun'ei 8), Sumida Goro Tokimitsu converted to Nichiren Buddhism after his wife gave birth safely using a talisman for safe delivery that Nichiren had bestowed upon him. He later became a direct disciple of Nichiren and established this temple. In 1289 CE (Kōan 2), he visited Nichiren and took monastic vows, after which Nichiren bestowed the mountain name and temple name. Following destruction by fire during wartime, the temple was relocated and rebuilt at its current site in Shinso in 1384 CE (Jitoku 1).
