It is said that its shrine lands and buildings were once extremely grand. The shrine was destroyed by fire during the Genki and Tensho periods, but was rebuilt with donations from Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The main hall (honden) was rebuilt in 1889 CE (Meiji 22).
