Nagano Kokugun Jinja (Nagano Patriotism Shrine)

In the first year of the Meiji era (1868), a Rekotsu-sha (soul-summoning shrine) was established by the Matsushiro, Iwamurada, Sukaba, Okuden, Kōdō, and Suwa domains, along with other domains in Shinano Province, to honor the victims of the Boshin War. In the 13th year of the Shōwa era (1938), it was founded with a temporary main hall by order of Emperor Meiji. The following year, in the 14th year of Shōwa (1939), it was renamed Nagano Ken Kokugun Jinja (Nagano Prefecture Patriotism Shrine) and designated in April of that year as a Ministry of Interior-designated Kokugun Jinja (Patriotism Shrine). After World War II, to avoid being viewed as a militaristic facility, it was renamed Misusa-no-Miya. In the 32nd year of Shōwa (1957), it was designated as a Hyakoku Jinja (listed shrine) under the Association of Shinto Shrines.
