This shrine enshrines the Three Deities of Pioneering, receiving a branch spirit (bunrei) from Sapporo Shrine. It held the old shrine rank of Gōsha (Village Shrine). It was established around 1900. Following an increase in public buildings, it underwent a relocation and was moved to its current location in the Miyashita-machi ward in 1913. In 1953, it received a branch spirit from Sōma Nakamura Shrine in Fukushima Prefecture, and Sōma Shrine was established within its precincts.
