In the Edo period, Kasuga no Tsubone, who had been granted land by Tokugawa Iemitsu, invited the deity to reside there. The shrine buildings were destroyed by fire and air raids throughout history. In 2013, new high-rise condominiums and shrine facilities were constructed.
