Ochi Shrine Visitor Toilet

The date of founding is unknown, but shrine tradition holds that the Ochi deity appeared to protect Empress Jingū during her campaign against the Three Kingdoms of Korea. The current shrine administration dates the founding to around the 14th year of Emperor Yuryaku's reign. There is a tradition that Tenjazukune-no-Mikoto was enshrined separately when the shrine was rebuilt by the Fujiwara clan during the Nara period. Additionally, some theories suggest it was designated as 'Moto-Kasuga' (Formerly Kasuga) after the Ochi shrine family became the Great East branch of the Kasuga shrine family in the medieval period.
