History
Founded in 1910 CE following a petition from former Owari domain samurai, the shrine was established to enshrine Tokugawa Yoshinao and Tokugawa Yoshikatsu, who had previously been jointly enshrined at Nagoya Tōshō-gū. It was designated a Prefectural Shrine in 1922 CE and the deity was transferred in 1924 CE (Taishō 13). In 1949 CE, Amaterasu Ōmikami was jointly enshrined as the primary deity. It currently remains a Prefectural Shrine.
