Okataka Shrine Grounds Jizo Statue

It is said to have originated in the 3rd year of Emperor Yuryaku's reign (471 CE) when Kamimura Inaki Sanamaro enshrined Susanoo-no-Mikoto. In the 1st year of the Ninju era (851 CE), Ono no Takamura constructed the shrine buildings on the current site. During the Sengoku period, to avoid the destruction of temples and shrines by Oda Nobunaga, a deity was invited from Kitano Tenmangu, and the shrine was renamed Okataka Tenjin. In the early Meiji period, it became Okataka Shrine, was designated a Village Shrine (son-sha) in the 9th year of Meiji (1876), and a Township Shrine (kyo-sha) in the 17th year of Meiji (1884).
